Nicki Minaj stepped in and killed the viral DMX Challenge for her Barbie Gang.
The head barb dropped her own twist to the latest social media viral craze, #DMXChallenge. Nicki Minaj abruptly released her version on Wednesday in what is now shaping up to be a fierce competition between herself and Jada Pinkett-Smith, who also dropped off her own video which quickly went viral. Nicki ensured that she sprinkled some barbie dust all over her clip as DMX and Sisqo classic “What These B*tches Want” provided the soundtrack.
“F**k Marry Kill, #dmxchallenge I like Nicki. Veronica. Karen. Tanya. Diane. Lori. Letoya. Bridgette. Kathy. Stacy. Tracy,” Nicki wrote. She also posted two additional videos of herself killing the #DMXChallenge. X himself dropped some fire emojis under her video.
Nicki also earned a major cosign from the legend DMX himself who re-posted her video on his Instagram account. If you were listening to hip hop music in the late 1990s to early 2000s, then you would agree that this was one of the biggest singles of that era and that X is a whole legend in the game for dropping bangers like these that can still be a part of the culture today.
“What These B*tches Want” was released on DMX album And Then There Was X in 1999. The track was the biggest hip hop/R&B crossover single in 1999-2000. The single peaked at No. 49 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and No. 11 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
