A$AP Rocky is making light of his traumatic legal problems in his new video.
A$AP Rocky debuted his first music video since being released from a Swedish prison three weeks ago. In the visuals for “Babushka Boi,” a song he dropped earlier this year, A$AP is inspired by the Dick Tracy comic as he takes on law enforcement after robbing a bank.
The video directed by Nadia Lee Cohen starts with Rocky and his crew, including A$AP Ferg, ScHoolboy Q, A$AP Nast, and Kamil Abbas, in inmate clothing busting out of prison to rob a bank. The gang is chased through the streets by pigs dressed as cops until they face off in a bloody shootout. The video ends with the pigs being turned into sausages.
The irony of the faceoff with police comes after Rocky spent weeks in a Swedish jail after a street brawl in late June. The “Wild For the Night” MC was found guilty of assault charges but wasn’t forced to do more jail time. A judge ordered him to pay court costs and restitution to the alleged victim in the fight. On Tuesday it was reported that Swedish prosecutors would not appeal his sentencing of time served, so the Harlem rapper is officially a free man.
Since returning home, the 30-year-old born Rakim Meyers has performed at Real Street Festival in Cali, and reportedly has a new song on the way with Juicy J.
