The Weeknd is working on his next album, and he is going back to his dark R&B roots.
The last two projects we got from The Weekend were much more pop-friendly than his previous bodies of work. Last month, the singer released a new track which is in reminisce of his roots. He also took a shot at Drake on the song. Abel also tweeted that he won’t be releasing any more “daytime music.”
Sources inside the XO camp told us that he wouldn’t be releasing any more pop-friendly music on his upcoming project at least. “Don’t expect anymore pop songs on this album,” sources said. “This is purely for the hardcore fans who’ve been down with us from day one man. Dark R&B joints that ni**a can f*** to and sh**.”
The Weeknd’s new single “Lost In The Fire” has been getting a lot of attention on the airwaves. The track debut on the Billboard Hot 100 and has been steadily climbing the charts since it was released last month.
