Spice is threatening to sue VP Records over her album release.
It’s been more than a decade since the dancehall community has been waiting on an album from the new queen Spice. The dancehall diva shed some light on the status of the album of the album in a rant on IG. The “Sheets” deejay says VP Records is holding her album hostage and now she is threatening to go to court to have the long-awaited project release.
“’m tired of fans asking me about my album I’ve been signed to them for 10 years and they never ever released one album for me,” Spice wrote. “I do absolutely EVERY THING BY MYSELF. I finance my own career and push my own music while Dem siddung inna A/C Inna dem office every day a drink red wine. This was the biggest mistake I’ve made in my entire life.”
Spice says she signed a record deal with VP Records in 2009 and that was a big mistake. She said every year the label promised to release her album and she has been voicing songs for the project but to no avail.
“Up to this day, from 2009 they have not released an album with me, and so I’m ready now to battle with them in court because I have to fight for my fans, my fans need an album from me,” Spice said. “They (VP) have left me with no other resort but to fight them to get out of this contract. I’ve just started the process because I’ve given them 10 years.”
Spice hosted her birthday party last weekend at Oneil’s Place on Hagley Park Road in Kingston. The celebration saw a number of fans and her celebrity friends coming out to support her.
