Cops have made a breakthrough in their investigation of the shooting of Rihanna‘s cousin, Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne.
Tavon was shot and killed the day after Christmas sending shock-waves throughout the Caribbean island and on social media where Rihanna condemns the killing and spoke out against gun violence. Days after the killing, cops arrested Shawayne Dashawn Williams, 23 years of White Hall #1, St. Michael and now charges have been formally filed against the 23-year-old, who is now facing life in prison for the gruesome murder if found guilty.
Williams appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday to answer to the charges where Magistrate Douglas Frederick read out the details of the charges without asking for a plea. His next court date is set for January 31st of this year where he is expected to enter his plea.
Alleyne was shot and killed at approximately 7 PM on December 26, 2017, while walking through a track near his home in Eden Lodge, St Michael. According to the police report, he was shot multiple times by a lone gunman who quickly flees the scene. Tavon was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Barbados where he was pronounced dead.
“RIP cousin… can’t believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms! never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!! Love you always man! #endgunviolence,” Rihanna wrote on Instagram while posting a photo of herself and her cousin before his death.
