Meek Mill Gets 4 Years Prison Sentence For Probation Violation

Meek Mill violated his probation and now he is heading back to prison for up to four years.

The Philadelphia rapper turned up to court today with his attorney, Brian McMonagle, where he learned his fate. Meek Mill has been having a string of legal victories over the past couple of weeks, but today his luck ran out when a judge ruled that he violated his probation when he was recently arrested in New York City. Although he struck a deal with prosecutors to avoid jail time, Meek still found himself in deeper legal problems with his probation.

The Dreamchasers rapper was sentenced to 2-4 years in a state prison, TMZ reported. He also violated his probation for an alleged fight at St. Louis airport. In that case too, the charge was dismissed. Meek Mill has been on probation for a 2009 gun and drug charge. As part of his probation, he cannot have any runnings with law enforcement including getting arrested.

Although the charges were dismissed, the judge ruled that the arrest alone is a violation of his probation. In 2015, Meek Mill violated his probation when he traveled out of state to an award show with Nicki Minaj without permission. He got off on just three months of house arrest. This time he might not be so lucky and could serve up to four years of prison time.

Meek Mill has been working hard to rehabilitate his image in recent years through a number of charitable initiatives and at one point he even announced on social media that he will stop recording music with violent lyrics. That effort was clearly not enough to get him into good grace with the judge. Since the news broke, he has been getting some support from his celebrity peers. It’s not clear when his sentence will start.
