Rihanna is getting her own street named after her in her homeland Barbados.
The pop star is the biggest music star ever to come out of Barbados and after achieving stardom she has given back to the island in many ways through her Clara and Lionel Foundation. The island will be celebrating its independence on November 30th and will be honoring Rihanna on that day by naming a street after her. She also significantly boosts tourism in the island since becoming a global pop icon.
“The Government of Barbados will on Independence Day, Thursday 30th November, 2017 officially change the name of Westbury New Road located in St. Michael to Rihanna Drive in honour of Barbadian superstar Ms. Robyn Rihanna Fenty who grew up in Westbury New Road,” Barbados Ministry of Tourism said in a statement.
Rihanna will attend the ceremony set to take place in Barbados from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on November 30th.
