NotNice is speaking out on the killing of Vybz Kartel‘s protege Gaza Maxwell.
The former Gazanation deejay was stabbed to death last month at a studio in Springfield, St Thomas. Police officers are actively investigating the murder but have not yet made an arrest. Producer NotNice says Maxwell’s death is a big blow for him because he was someone he worked with closely in the past. “Me stress out because is somebody me used to work closely with from Gaza days, so fi hear this, and the way him dead, it messed up,” the beat maker said. “Gaza Maxwell didn’t deserve to die that way. He was a good youth.”
NotNice says that it was Vybz Kartel who lead him to work with Gaza Maxwell and the last song that they did together was “Miss You” which is a rest in piece song featured on the Eternal Riddim. After Kartel disbanded Portmore Empire in 2012, Gaza Maxwell then moved to St. Thomas to further pursue his music. “Mi nuh voice ‘fool fool’ artiste, and Kartel nah go recruit ‘fool fool’ artiste, either. And a really Kartel did bring him come as a part of the Empire,” NotNice added. “Kartel say him (Maxwell) did remind him a the Festival man, Eric Donaldson, and a so comes me get fi voice him.”
Vybz Kartel learned about Gaza Maxwell’s murder while in the hospital last month. Sources say the dancehall star is hurt by the news.
