Kodak Black is facing 30 years in prison following his indictment on Monday for first degree criminal sexual conduct.
Kodak, born Dieuson Octave, will be standing trial for the charge which stemmed from an incident that took place last year where he allegedly sexually assaulted a teenage girl. The Pompano Beach rapper was arrested in November of last year after the victim reported the incident her school nurse in Richland County, Fader reported. The school then contacted law enforcement who quickly responded to the report and arrested the rapper.
The alleged sexual battery case reportedly took place in February 2016 in Florence County, South Carolina when Kodak Black was in town for a concert at the Treasure City club. The female told police that the rapper forced himself onto her at a Comfort Inn on 2120 West Lucas Street in Florence. Authorities released additional information about the case last year November detailing how Kodak “forced the victim onto the bed in the room and then onto the floor of the room” before raping her. There are also recordings of the female telling the rapper “no” and to “stop.”Nevertheless, Octave did not stop and proceed to do what he did.
His label Atlantic Records released a statement saying that it is aware of the indictment and was expecting it as part of normal proceedings involving the case. If found guilty, Kodak Black could be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison. Kodak is currently on probation for a separate charge after being released from prison in December. In March he was arrested for probation violation and spent 30 days behind bars. Any more violation could land him back in jail for a much longer time. The “Tunnel Vision” rapper is getting ready to hit the road for his “Project Baby” tour of the U.S. where he will perform at 16 tour stops from October to December.
