Vybz Kartel affiliate Gaza Maxwell was stabbed to death on Monday in St. Thomas.
Multiple sources confirmed with Urban Islandz on Wednesday that the former Portmore Empire artist was attacked by another man inside 180 Caliba studio in Springfield, St Thomas. He was stabbed in the chest and rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police officers did not release a motive for the killing but said that they are actively investigating the incident as a homicide.
After Vybz Kartel disbanded Portmore Empire in 2012, Gaza Maxwell found a new home at 180 Caliba Productions where he signed a deal with the label headed by Capone. The dancehall star is known for songs like “Miss You” a song produced by NotNice and another single with Kartel titled “Bun Fi Bun.” Sources told us that the incarcerated deejay was informed about the killing and is upset about it.
Kartel is currently hospitalized for a severe kidney infection. Prison officials rushed him to the University Hospital of the West Indies early Monday morning after complaining of severe pain in his side since last week Wednesday. Maxwell was working on some new music at the studio at the time of his death.
R.I.P. Gaza Maxwell.
