So many biopics coming out this year. After Rihanna and Chris Brown announced their upcoming documentaries, Birdman and his brother Slim has also announced that they are working on a Cash Money biopic.
The documentary will chronicles the labels rise from the projects of New Orleans to become one of the most recognized brands in rap music, according to XXL Mag.
“I think that Dr. Dre and Ice Cube… I think they are geniuses for what they have done and accomplished,” Birdman said during an interview at Brooklyn Law School. “For them to do that and to make it trend-setting, they opened doors for us. And I just think that what we have is way more special, because we’re in modern times.”
Birdman also noted that the script is already being written and was inspired by the success of NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton.
“This is gold,” Slim said. “There’s a lot of things that people don’t know that we went through, things that happened behind the scenes of the company, things that happened before we were with Universal. So we got a lot of stories, but the way I’m putting it together is gonna be great.”
A time table for the release of Cash Money biopic is still not yet known. It’s also unclear if Lil Wayne will be a part of the production.
There is also an upcoming Tupac Shakur biopic titled All Eyes On Me, for which production has already being wrapped. There is also a rumored Wu-Tang Clan’s Ol’ Dirty Bastard movie in the works.
In addition to the upcoming biopic, Birdman has announced that he will be dropping two albums this summer. The two albums will be Rich Gang 2 and Ms. Glady’s, the later for which the Cash Money honcho has already released the lead single.
