Mendeecees Harris, a star on “Love & Hip Hop: New York” is going to prison for all of 8 years. This means that the show will be short one of its major cast members for the next season.
The NY Daily News reported that Harris was sentenced on Tuesday in Rochester to 97 months in prison for drug trafficking charges. He was credited with already serving 15 months. The record producer will also have to serve 5 years of supervised released after completing his sentencing.
Mendeecees took to Instagram to deliver a heartfelt apology to his family and thank everyone who supported him.
“I want you all to understand something,” he wrote. “I completely accept responsibility for all that is going on. My transition to be a better person a productive person started well before this case. However in my passed I made some bad decisions. Young men let my life be an example to you now before it’s too late. Better who you are now in your children’s lives and in society so you can change the path of your fate. Lack of opportunities, a fatherless home, the unforgiving neighborhood and circumstances you grew up in can no longer be your excuse.”
Harris was out on a $600,000 bail at the time of his sentencing. In April of this year he pleaded guilty to trafficking cocaine and heroin.
