Vybz Kartel Struck Gold With Co-Written Beyonce Song

Vybz Kartel is getting a lot of praise for a song that has a lot to do with female empowerment.

The former Portmore Empire head has struck gold with a Beyonce hit song that he co-wrote. In April 2011, Beyonce released “Run The World (Girls)” and that song went on to be a huge hit.

The track peaked at No. 29 on Billboard Hot 100 and No. 30 on R&B/Hip-Hop Song. The single also went on to certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) the same year it was released.

Vybz Kartel can be found on the writing credits for the dancehall and go-go-influenced single, using his government name Adidja Palmer. Also on the writing credits are Terius “The-Dream” Nash, Beyonce Knowles, Nick “Afrojack” van de Wall, Wesley “Diplo” Pentz, and David “Switch” Taylor.

Switch, The-Dream, Knowles, and Shea Taylor are named among the producers of the track.

  1. Kartel didn’t co-wrote “run the world.” They sampled “pon the floor” so they’re just giving credit.
