Rihanna Looking To Reggae To Score Next Big Hit

Rihanna is looking to her roots and that is reggae music to score her next big blockbuster hit song.

The Bajan pop star has been struggling to score a major hit song since her return to music despite doing collaborations with some big name artists including Kanye West, Paul McCartney and more.

Sources close to the “American Oxygen” singer told Urban Islandz that she is currently working on a reggae infused single that she hopes will be her first radio hit this year.

“Her (Rihanna) people are not very happy with the performance of her recent singles,” our sources said. “Usually everything that Rihanna put out becomes a major hit and her recent singles didn’t hold any traction so that is a disappointment for her team.”

“She is currently working on a reggae/dancehall infused pop song but I can’t divulge too much details but everyone is hoping it will turn things around for her,” our source added.

Our source also told us that Rihanna won’t release her eight album until she score a major hit song.

Earlier this month sources told Urban Islandz that Rihanna people have reached out to several big name dancehall artists like Vybz Kartel, Mavado, and Popcaan.

“I know for sure that her (Rihanna) people have reached out to Popcaan and Vybz Kartel people to record some music and I’ve been told that she might be flying down to GeeJam studio during the summer,” sources revealed.

The “Rude Boy” singer returned to music this year after taking a brief hiatus to get some rest and work on a few acting gigs.

Rihanna’s upcoming album R8 has been delayed several times after being announced last year. But fans can expect the album to drop sometime later this year.

Perhaps she will pull a Beyonce on us and drop the album without notice.
