Nicki Minaj And Mariah Carey Announced They Are Leaving American Idol

Nearly a month after Randy Jackson announced that he won’t be returning to the judges panel on American Idol, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey announce their departure also.

Yesterday Mariah Carey PR team was first to confirmed her departure from the talent show via Twitter.

“W/ global success of ‘#Beautiful’ (#1 in 30+ countries so far) @MariahCarey confirms world tour & says goodbye 2 Idol,” PMK-BNC tweeted on Thursday.

Mariah Carey is also working on her upcoming album.

Later that evening Nicki Minaj confirmed via her Twitter that she will be leaving the show to focus on her music.

“Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience! Wouldn’t trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh!!!” Nicki Minaj tweeted.

FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, the producers behind American Idol, released a joint statement confirming Minaj’s departure.

“Nicki Minaj is a superstar who brought a level of honesty and passion to ‘American Idol’ and who had a tremendous positive impact on so many contestants this season,” the statement reads. “Given her extremely busy career, we understand and respect her decision and wish her the best.”

Jennifer Lopez is rumored to be returning to the judges panel on American Idol.
