Its been creating a buzz since it was recorded a few months ago, now the time for the world to “Rise Up” is upon us. In times like these, where people of all nations and creeds are rising up and fighting for truths and rights, Rise Up is a battle cry.

Produced by the indomitable Jerry Wonder, of The Fugees fame, the song will be released this Thursday in a full blast to radio, social media and the web, with many tastemaker DJs excited about the prospects for the track.
We The Best recording artist Mavado leads out on his single, featuring global superstar Akon on the hook with Rick Ross dropping a verse that is poignant for the Boss at a time when he is under fire.
“They wanna see me fall, that’s why I go so hard,” raps Ross.

“We been talking about this record for so long it seems,” says Mavado. “It was picked up for a movie but the movie release date was pushed back and we decided we couldn’t wait any longer. We felt the world needed to hear the record so we giving it as a gift to the streets.”
With an ever-increasing demand for Mavado’s vocals from some of the urban genre’s biggest names, he is also featured on the remix of French Montana’s “Freaks” track, alongside Nicki Minaj, Wale and Rick Ross. Mavado’s voice stands out amongst his illustrious peers on the beat that samples Sly & Robbie’s iconic Bam Bam riddim.
“The Freaks remix has already set radio on fire in the US,” adds Mavado. “It seems as if everyone loves it more than the original so its just more exposure for me, for Jamaica and for dancehall.”
Mavado and his team see Rise Up doing big things but are also using it to help build the buzz for his official single to be released in June that features some of the hottest names in Hip Hop and is expected to give Gully Gad the push to the next level. Stay tuned.
