Ja Rule was released from a New York prison yesterday after serving a two-year sentence on a firearm charge.
The charge stemmed from an incident in 2010 where police officers pulled him over during a traffic stop and found a loaded .40-caliber in his car.

According to the Associated Press, even though Ja Rule finished serving his prison sentence, he is still not completely free.
Ja Rule is also facing 28 months for tax evasion. In March of 2011, the 36-year-old rapper, born Jeffery Atkin, admitted in a federal court that he did not pay his taxes on more than $3 million worth of incom between the years 2004-2006.

Ja Rule, who still owes the IRS $1.1 million, may have less than six more months before officially being a free man, according to his lawyer, Stacey Richman.
“Many people are looking forward to experiencing his talent again,” Richman said.
