Embattled dancehall star Vybz Kartel is schedule to return to the Home Circuit Court in Kingston on Friday where his lawyers are expected to make a bail application.
Vybz Kartel, who is on trial for the murder of Barrington “Bossie” Burton, secured bail last year to the sum of JM$ 3 million. However, on Wednesday (March 21) when the case was called up in the Home Circuit Court, the prosecution argued that since the matter has been transferred to a different court the defense attorneys would need to make a new application for bail.
Barrington ‘Bossie’ Burton was a 27-year-old businessman/promoter of a Gregory Park address in St Catherine. According to police Reports, Burton was gunned down on July 12, 2011 while standing with friends along Walker’s Avenue in Gregory Park, St. Catherine.
Two other men, Nigel Thompson and Lenburgh McDonald, were charged along with Vybz Kartel for the murder. The two men are expecting in court on April 13 when they are expected to apply for bail.
Vybz Kartel, whose real is Adidja Palmer, is also facing another murder charge for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. Williams was allegedly beaten to death at a home believed to be belonging to Vybz Kartel in Havendale.
He is yet to secure bail on that murder charge.
