A year after being certified platinum, Nicki Minaj’s debut album Pink Friday is now certified double platinum.
2012 was a great year for the Trinidadian rapper, she got her own barbie doll, worked with legendary Pop star Madonna and appeared in numerous Billboard Top 10 singles and toured the world with her YMCMB crew and Britney Spears.
The rapper, whose single “Super Bass” break many records and landed on many people’s favorite songs of the year, is going into the 54th Grammys Award with four nods, including Best New Artiste.
Rihanna Is The Highest Selling Digital Artiste
Another Caribbean artiste, Rihanna is creating waves in the music industry, after being crowned the highest selling digital artiste of all time by Neilsen.
Rihanna made this achievement in a mere 6 years since launching her music career at Def Jam.
According to Neilsen, Rihanna sold 47.5 million tracks digitally since her first release in 2005.
The Black Eyed Peas came in second with 42.4 million sold digitally, with Eminem close behind for third place with 42.29 million sold.
Last year Rihanna made Billboard history by reaching 20 top ten singles faster than any other artist before her. She also charted her 11th number-one single, giving her the sixth most number ones of all time.
