Usain Bolt Named 2011 IAAF Male Athletes Of The Year

Triple world record holder Usain Bolt is the 2011 IAAF World Male Athlete of the year.

The Jamaican sprinter dubbed the fastest man on earth create history when he became the second man to win the prestigious award on three times.

Australian sprint hurdler Sally Pearson was named the 2011 Female World Athlete of the year.

The International Athletics Foundation Grand Gala was held at the Salle des Etoiles in Monaco last Friday night (Nov 11).

Usain Bolt inch out fellow Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake and Kenyan 800m runner David Rudisha, who all had a great season in 2011. Bolt said he is extremely proud of the award.

“I am extremely proud of myself this means a lot to me and it has motivated me even more to work harder and to enter this coming season with even greater fight,” Bolt said.
