The crown prince of reggae Dennis Brown was featured in the acclaim New York Times magazine last month.
Times hailed the late reggae crooner as one of the greatest singers of the last half century.
The story, written by Ben Ratliff, was published November 16th as part of the upcoming vprecords bix set Dennis Brown: The Crown Prince Of Reggae.
In the article Ratliff seamlessly compared Brown to the legendary Sam Cooke.
“his voice improvisationally resourceful, graceful, resonant, optimistic: maybe Jamaica’s Sam Cooke. His reggae records – made with the best Jamaican producers and rhythm sections, full of Rasta rhetoric while covering the American soul and pop he had his ear to maintained a high level through the ’70s and ’80s.”
