Grammy-winning singer Usher has broken silence on his failed marriage to R&B singer Tameka Foster and said the mother of his two sons could not fully see eye-to-eye with him.
“I appreciate the relationship for what it was,” he says. “Even though it didn’t work out, I’m glad we got together. I love her as the mother of my children; we just couldn’t be married. We’re two different people — and we have two different goals. It just was never going to work out 100 percent. We had to put our issues aside and focus on raising [our sons]. There will never be another mother for my sons, and I’ll always be their father.”
Usher and his ex-wife Tameka had a nasty split last year after a leaked 911 phone call hit the Internet with Usher accusing Foster of damaging his vehicle.
“I actually wanted to report a situation where my car has been keyed,” Usher told the 911 operator. “Yes ma’am, property damage. Can you hold on for one second? It happened last night apparently, I had called and filed a complaint because of a potential domestic violence between me and my ex-wife because she had come to my house, they sent the police there last night, we filed a complaint. My name is Usher Raymond…It was around 12 o’clock, last night [the car was fine]. It was after I had an altercation between my ex-wife and after I filed a complaint and the police came, she fled the scene. But when I woke up this morning I saw my car…”
