Mavado Found Guilty

Dancehall star Mavado was fined JM$ 100,000 or faced up to six months behind bars when he appeared in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrates Court yesterday.

Mavado, born David Brooks, was found guilty on two charges of assault and malicious destruction of property.

The “So Special” deejay was fined $20,000 or six months for malicious destruction of property and a larger $80,000 or six months on the charge of assault.

Mavado was arrested and charged last year summer for assaulting a man, Henry Cunningham, and his son, Oshane Cunningham, in St. James.

According to Cunningham, Mavado and his entourage attacked him and his son in what appears to be a case of road rage.
