Drake has responded to alleged leaked DMs mentioning Lebron James in a hypothetical cheating scandal.

The issue of Drake suing Universal Music Group over Kendrick Lamar’s diss song “Not Like Us” continues to play out in the public space in 2025, with varied opinions. While some folks believes that it was a career suicide move, others believed that it was purely to protect the Canadian rapper’s personal brand and send a message to the music industry.

There are also rumors that Drake has some bad feelings about Lebron James after the NBA legend seemingly supported Kendrick Lamar in the aftermath of the beef last year. This issue was again raised this week when Chris Blake Griffith shared a screenshot of an alleged DM he received from the “God’s Plan” rapper, which mentioned the Lakers star and Nike.

“Me and Universal is like if Nike was funding a campaign about Lebron cheating on his wife,” the alleged DM from Drake reads. “Not Adidas or Reebok… Nike the company he been with since he started. My situation is not no street sh–.”

Drake allegedly stated that his lawsuit will send a far reaching message to artists and labels, something that would create a shift in the industry. “Everybody before me that tried the label was too eccentric so they wrote them off as crazy and they never had to pay for their sins and mistakes,” the DM continues. “I’m going to change that and make the building a safer place for every artist moving forward.”

Drake has not publicly commented on the Lebron James drama or Chris Blake Griffith releasing the alleged DMs, but his sidekick DJ Akademiks claims that he spoke to the 6 God and he said the DM is fake.

“This is a fake DM. Drake called buddy a Rat,” Akademiks wrote on Twitter. “He got mad and made up some fake DM to try to make the blogs and go viral. end of story.” AK added in a follow-up tweet, “Source – THE BOY.”

Drake released his new song “Fighting Irish” freestyle last week, in which he seemingly addressed his fallout with Lebron James. The Toronto rapper also unfollowed James on Instagram, another sign that they are no longer on speaking terms.
