Vybz Kartel is getting ready to return to the stage for the first time since his release from prison.
Thousands of fans are set to converge on the National Stadium in Kingston to see the dancehall legend performed live at Freedom Street for the first time in thirteen years. However, if for some reason you can’t be there in person, you can stream the show Live for a fee of US$39.75. The show won’t be streamed live on YouTube like some other events in Jamaica, and only one stream is allowed per purchase via Freedom Street Livestream.
Vybz Kartel shared that the show will be a Portmore Empire Reunion, so expect to see most of the former Empire members performing live, including Popcaan, Tommy Lee Sparta, Jah Vinci, Gaza Indu, Sheba, Lisa Hyper, and Shawn Storm.
Kartel and his production team also added some other big names like Chronic Law, Skillibeng, Rvssian, and Shatta Wale to the lineup. Busta Rhymes is also in Jamaica, and he is expected to make a cameo, although he is not on the official lineup.
Kartel and his production manager, Joe Bogdanovich, hinted that Drake could be in Jamaica for the show. The dancehall star also dropped hints about Cardi B’s potential appearance, but she has a club gig booked for tonight in New York.
Vybz Kartel also hinted that his former mentor Bounty Killer and collaborator Masicka would be gracing the stage, but the “Whites” deejay has since released a statement stating that he won’t be performing at the event due to contractual obligations with another booking.
Some things you should know if you’re attending the show in person. No weapons are allowed and only a limited amount of tickets will be available at the gate
