Popcaan Hints He Was In New York, Got Back His US Visa

Popcaan dropped some hints that he was recently in New York and might’ve gotten back his US visa.

The Unruly Boss is one of a handful of Jamaican artistes who are still without a United States visa which is preventing them from traveling and performing in that country. Popcaan has been without a visa and work permit for years, but that has not hindered his career growth because he is now one of the biggest artistes in dancehall. Despite his inability to travel to the US, Poppy has been able to perform in other major music markets in the world like Canada, Europe, Africa, and the wider Caribbean.

Popcaan posted a few video clips on his Instagram Story this week where he told his fans that he is in New York. “Yeah New York, me deh them think me ramp,” the deejay said.

The St. Thomas native didn’t give us a peek of his surroundings, and that left some fans skeptical about his whereabouts. Popcaan could just be trolling, or perhaps he is letting us know that he is back on US soil, which would mean that he is ready to start taking bookings stateside.

Aside from his usually very entertaining IG page, Popcaan hosted his second annual Off-to-School treat at Rudolph Elder Park in Morant Bay on Thursday, August 22. The event was held under his Popcaan Care Foundation, which is geared towards helping his home parish.

“St Thomas has been a place nuff people forget about and mi try fi shed some light pon the parish as much as me can and the people dem a St Thomas need to join in with me,” Poppy said.
