Kanye West has issued an apology for stealing a design for his Yeezy brand.

The G.O.O.D. Music rapper also noted that he fired a designer he recently hired who presented the plagiarized work as his own. The original creator of the work, Tony Spackman, fired off a message to Kanye West earlier this week calling him out for jacking his designs. There is no word yet if any lawsuit is coming towards Kanye camp, but I am sure lawyers are already on this.

“Today I learned that a newly hired designer on the Yeezy team presented work that was not of their own. This person has immediately been let go from the Yeezy brand,” Kanye West wrote on Twitter.

“In a moment of inspiration, energy and excitement I had posted this sketch and would like to acknowledge the true creator of this amazing work, Tony Spackman,” he added. Spackman is the design director at Givenchy and he created the designs 13 years ago while he was working as a designer at Nike.

Kanye West tweeted the sketches last month while bragging about his design team hard work for his hugely successful Yeezy line. “This is where a YEEZY study for base layer starts,” Kanye tweeted. “I’m so excited about our new design team. Yeezy is no longer a fashion company we should be referred to as apparel or clothing or simply YEEZY.”

The rapper has since deleted the post after Spackman outed it as plagiarism. The original title of the sketches was also edited out. Kanye West has now acknowledged that and coughed up and apology.

Kanye has had a controversial week with rants about his love for Donald Trump and then saying that “400 years of slavery was a choice.” He got hammered in the media and online for that statement.

Ever-controversial Kanye is no stranger to digging in the far reaches of the internet for inspiration.  Is Ye just showing his creative process with inspiration images or claiming the work to be his own?  Photoshopping out the title of the sketch in the top left corner is pretty much a dead giveaway lol.  The original by designer @tonyspackman was done in 2005 for a @nike collection called "Living Apparel" which eventually became "Nike React", a running collection grounded in freedom of movement and human comfort.  Can we just call it Yee?y now? ? • #yeezy #kanyewest #kanye #kimye #theft #inspiration #illustration #design #fashiondesign #sportswear #streetwear #athleisure #nike #streetstyle #running #nikerunning #hypebeast #highsnobiety #snobshots #wiwt #ootd #copycat #knockoff #wtf #dietprada
