Beyonce Pays Homage To Dancehall & Jamaica At Coachella

Beyonce pays homage to dancehall and Jamaican culture during her performance at Coachella 2018.

Beyonce pulled a massive crowd at Coachella 2018 for the first weekend of the show and this weekend show could be pulling an even bigger crowd because her set won’t be streaming online live. Millions of Beyhives tuned into the live stream on YouTube to see the megastar in action. One of the best parts of her performance was when she performed her smash hit “Baby Boy” featuring Sean Paul and then went straight into singing a rendition of Marcia Aitken’s classic “I’m Still in Love with You Boy.

Beyonce used the original single to promote her upcoming joint “On The Run II” tour with JAY-Z on social media last month and that move reignites interest in the dancehall classic. Sources are saying that Bey and Hov have their own version of the song coming on their upcoming joint album.

On Saturday night, Beyonce will be switching things up a little bit for her second Coachella 2018 performance. Let’s hope that she injects some more dancehall into her set, it’s a good look for the culture.

Beyonce and JAY-Z were in Jamaica last month shooting a music video in Bob Marley’s hometown, Trench Town, the same spot where he shot bits and pieces of his “BAM” music video with Damian Marley. The couple was spotted riding a bike through the ghetto while their film crew set up shop inside a local barbershop.

It’s no secret that the power couple has had a deep affection for Jamaica since they often travel to the island to record new music. A lot of big name artists drew their inspiration from Jamaica’s vibrant music scene and the island has some of the best scenery to go clear your mind before stepping into the recording booth.
