Meek Mill and YFN Lucci new single “Street Kings” is straight fire.
The duo drop the collaboration over the weekend and it quickly became a trending topic in hip hop. One of the reasons why this song resonate so much is because of Meek Mill’s incarceration and fans are sending a message to the system to set him free. “Shout out my ni**as that stayed down, That’s why they still with me I came up, Got some money and look what they sayin’ now, Bet they tell you them ni**as, they stand up, I manned up,” Meek raps.
Both Meek and YFN Lucci pays homage to their friends and perhaps fans who are currently incarcerated by a justice system widely seen as bias against African American men. The single “Street Kings” will be featured on YFN upcoming album Ray Ray from Summerhill. The project is expected to arrive sometime this year.
Meek Mill has been incarcerated since November last year when he was sentenced to 2-4 years in prison for probation violation. His sentencing sparked widespread criticism from fans and his celebrity peers who accused the judge of using heavy handed tactics to send the Philly rapper to prison. His attorneys have also been actively fighting for his freedom, but so far they have been hitting roadblocks.
