Quavo has agreed to remake the United States national anthem but he will do so under one condition.
Last week, Change.org petitioned for the Atlanta rapper to remake the national anthem amidst growing race relation tension stemming from the Charlottesville, VA incident. A TMZ photographer caught up with Quavo and asked him about the petition and he said he would do it but only if it includes all races. That is something that the vast majority of Americans would agree with.
“There’s a lot going on behind the national anthem, so I would love to do it, but I want to make a 2017 national anthem for both people, for all races, and put it together,” Quavo said (via Rap-Up). “Something that’s representing now, something that’s representing the modern-day national anthem. If I get with some good musicians, and just write something that’s very strong and powerful.”
The petition has already racked up close to 8000 signatures and growing and this extra press will just give it more momentum. Quavo has been a guest feature on almost every rap song this year from a ton of artists. I guess you can say that he got the Midas touch, but can he bring unity among races in America.
