Vybz Kartel is back on Instagram following an hiatus. Back in January, the deejay went lights out on IG after authorities announced that they are investigating whether or not he has been recording music in prison.
A rep for Kartel previously told DHH that he has no way of recording music in prison and cannot run his social media accounts because devices like cellphones are banned from inside the maximum security prison where he is housed. Despite that revelation, we didn’t hear anything from the Gaza boss on IG for five months, but that all changed last weekend when he uploaded two videos on his account giving fans a snippet of two of his new singles. Sources told us that Kartel social media accounts are run by his wife Shorty and his management team.
Vybz Kartel and his attorneys are currently gearing up for their next big legal showdown in the Jamaica Appeal Court. The appeal trial is set for February 19 next year and is expected to run for three weeks. His attorney Tom Tavares-Finson is expected to turn over his skeletal argument to the judges this summer. The deejay and his lawyers are confident that he will walk free once the Appeal Court hear his case.
Gaza fans are celebrating Vybz Kartel return to the platform. One fan wrote “Miss you Daddy.. guidance&protection mi pray for you.bless up.” Another fan added “Welcome back boss we miss you more health and strength you soon buss the appeal.”
