Kanye West resumé just got a lot heavier after receiving his Honorary Doctorate from of Fine Arts from The Art Institute of Chicago.
The G.O.O.D. Music rapper put on his graduation gown and black cap to accept his degree on Monday.
Speaking at the podium, Kanye West expressed how nervous he was and how important the recognition is to him.
“I am a pop artist. So my medium is public opinion and the world is my canvas,” West said.
“George Bush…,” he added to loud laughters. “Has some very cool self-portraits. I didn’t know he was an artist.”
“I felt my nerves a bit and I don’t feel that feeling a lot. The nerves of humility and modesty when being honoured, a humanization, a reality, of being recognized, and all I thought as I sit here kinda shaking a little bit, is, I need to get rid of that feeling! I need to not be nervous.”
Kim Kardashian also congratulated her husband from Brazil while in that country promoting her new book Selfish.
“Dr. Kanye West!!!!!!! I’m so proud of you baby & I know your mom would be so proud too,” she wrote in the caption of a photo she posted on Instagram of Dr. West.
