Buju Banton Lawyer Files Docs For New Trial

Embattled reggae icon Buju Banton is not giving up on his quest for freedom and to clear his name.

Lawyers representing the Grammy-winning singer filed court documents last month requesting a new trial in his drug trafficking case.

Attorneys Charles Ogletree, Jack Cushma, and Max Stern makes up Buju Banton new legal. n 11-page document was filed on February 4, 2014 in the 11th Circuit Court of Appeal in the United States making a case for a new trial.

Charles Ogletree is a Harvard University law professor who taught President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. He also in the past represent the late rap icon Tupac Shakur.

Buju Banton, whose real name is Mark Myrie, is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence in a Federal prison in Florida. He was convicted in 2011 on three counts of drug trafficking charges.

  1. The last time Buju appeal, the US Govenrment add 5 more years to his sentence. Buju need to stop fighting the goverment and do his time in 2019 he will be out. Do not make the appeals court add back that gun charge!
