Mavado is now freed of an assault charge that was being dragged out in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court.

The case was mentioned in court this morning when Mavado’s lawyer Peter Champagnie told the court that the issue was settled in mediation.

Additionally, the prosecution offered no evidence implicating Mavado in any wrongdoing.

The judge subsequently dismissed the case.

Mavado, born David Brooks, was charged with assaulting an off-duty police officer in June 2011 after an incident at Bounty Killer’s birthday bash at Quad Nightclub in Kingston that left the dancehall star’s close friend dead.

“Charges against me dismissed in court today, to God be the glory,” Mavado tweeted.

Bounty Killer also sent out a tweet showing his support to his protege.
