Former Fugees frontman Wyclef Jean has stepped forward to discuss the downfall of the group after scoring massive success in the 90s.
According to the Haitian born singer, his love for fellow band member Lauryn Hill is what ultimate caused the group to fell apart.
“I’m sure he definitely blame me,” Wyclef told Power 106. “And if you go back to the old articles one time, you know where Pras was like, ‘Clef is the cancer of the Fugees.’ You remember when he said that? At the time, you’ve gotta understand his frustration though. It was more like, ‘I really wanted this thing to work and you shouldn’t have messed with the girl. Matter of fact, didn’t I warn you about messing with the girl?’ Now, as a man and looking back, definitely take blame in the sense of having fell for Lauryn at the time.”
The Fugees was one of the most successful hip-hop bands of all time. After their split in the late 1990s, Lauryn Hill went on to become a multi-platinum selling solo artists with her debut album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
