Rap heavy weight champ Nicki Minaj will have another moment to celebrate. Billboard is honoring the Young Money emcee as its rising star of 2011.
Minaj is slated to get the honor at Billboard’s “Women in Music” event on Dec. 2 in New York City.
“I am deeply honored to be recognized by Billboard,” said the “Super Bass” hitmaker. She said she and her fans have come a “mighty long way” but are not close to where “God will take us.”
Nicki Minaj debut album Pink Friday opens at number one in November of 2011 and went on to be certified platinum 4 weeks later. The album and a slew of hit singles catapult her to the top of the rap game, making her the sole female in a male dominated league.
Taylor Swift is also being honored as the woman of the year.
