From one rap icon to another
West Coast rap legend Dr. Dre was on hand to celebrate the achievements of his fellow West Coast icon Snoop Dogg at the 2011 BMI Urban Awards.
Dr. Dre gave an heartfelt speach in honor of his longtime friend and collaborator. A humbled Snoop Dogg accepted the BMI Urban Icon Award to a standing ovation at the the Pantages Theater
Snoop acknowledged his wife Shante Broadus and hip-hop’s new generation including Drake. “I always put you through hell, I’ma get that sh*t right though,” he said of his wife.
After the presentation, Snoop joined fellow artists Bootsy Collins, Game, Kurupt, Warren G, Daz Dillinger, The Lady of Rage, and Charlie Wilson to perform his classic “Who Am I (What’s My Name).”
