Mavado On U.S. Soil, Thank Government For Returning His Visa

Dancehall’s Gully Gad Mavado is back on U.S soil after two years. The deejay recently had his visa returned, paving the way for him to do shows and conduct business in the States, which is the largest music market.

A rep for the “So Special” singjay told Urban Islandz that he is now in New York, where he will do a series of interviews and press conference.

In the meantime Mavado is expressing thanks to the United States Embassy for the return of his visa. Vado have high praises for the U.S. authority for what he says is their “commitment” to the truth and an unbiased investigation of the “facts.”

Mavado is the first of several dancehall artists to have his visa returned. Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Vybz Kartel, and Aidonia are still without their U.S. visas after their work permit was revoked in 2009. Veteran sound system selector Ricky Trooper, who is widely blamed for the issue, is also without a visa.

Mavado, whose real name is David Brooks, launched his record label Mansion Records last month. His first single on the label “Delilah” have been getting rave reviews.
