Rap legend Dr. Dre has release the highly anticipated video for his single from his Detox album “I Need A Doctor.”
Fans have been waiting 12 years for the Doctor to return and he is proving the wait is well worth it. Dre’s upcoming album Detox is the follow up to his critically acclaimed 1999 album ‘Dr. Dre 2001 and his debut 1992 platinum LP ‘The Chronic.’
In the Allen Hughes-directed clip, featuring protégé Eminem and newcomer Skylar Grey, Dre looks back at moments from life and career — as well as a car crash that totals a real Ferrari Modena! — before showing off his killer muscles, both physically and lyrically!
“This is a very unique song, very personal and groundbreaking so when I first heard the track I knew it was something I had to do because I like to do things that are different and innovative,” says Hughes.
“Besides knowing Dre for 20 years, I felt compelled to do this as a fan and as a connoisseur of popular culture I wanted to be a part of this event because it’s from the last album that a large amount of people will listen to from beginning to end,” he added.
The epic video runs close to eight minutes, depicting the N.W.A founder in a futuristic hospital after a car wreck while a distraught Eminem pleads for his return. Several home clips from the entirety of Dre’s career are interspersed throughout the video.
