This years staging of the popular annual Reggae Rising Festival in California is cancelled. Producers of the Reggae Festival Dimmick Ranch LLC failed to secure permit to host the show. As a result the California community of Humboldt will loose an estimated US$2 million.
In a note posted on the event website, the producers said, “It is a difficult loss this year for the community of Southern Humboldt, and an even greater loss for the world community of reggae fans that have come to love and expect this event each year.”
This year staging of the event would have seen some big names such as, Lady Saw, Ky-Mani Marley, Third World, Mighty Diamonds, Judy Mowatt, Admiral Tibet, Yami Bolo, The Melodians, The Yellow Wall Dub Squad, Kevens HighGrade All Stars Culture in Dub.
The next staging of the event will be in the Summer of 2011.
