Masicka announces the release date for his new album to close out another big year for the dancehall artist.
The “Reverse Time” deejay made the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, October 31, putting his fans on high alert for his next body of work. “New project Dec 4th. Best work yet,” Masicka wrote on X. The dancehall hitmaker has not yet shared the title of the project or who will be featured, but he just released a new track with Teejay, “Never Complain,” that has been getting positive feedback from fans.
The new project is the follow-up to Masicka’s 2023 album, Generation of Kings, which means it will be released a year after that landmark project was released. His debut LP, 438, was released on December 3, 2021, so it’s safe to say that Masicka is keeping with tradition to drop his albums in December, in time for the Christmas holiday period.
Both albums debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart after posting impressive numbers in the first week of release. The album, 438, has sold over 50,000 album equivalent units since its release. Generation of Kings also peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart. The project featured a star-studded guest list with features from Popcaan, Chronic Law, Lila Ike, Dexta Daps, Spice, and Fridayy.
Masicka dropped his new single “Whites” on Thursday, October 31, on the Rooster Riddim. The gritty single was produced by Attomatic Records, Dan Sky Records, and 1 Syde Records, while the music video was directed by Now Or Never.
In the meantime, fans have been reacting to Masicka’s new album announcement with high expectations. “Need that Grammy nomination to show that the work not going to waste this album going to be another landmark project 1 Syde,” one fan wrote on X. Another fan said, “Masicka never miss looking forward to this project the best artist in the game right now crown him.”
