This years Pulse Model search is already heating up ahead of the big night on September 5.
This year’s competition will span over four categories which include Jamaica Fashion Model, Petite Jamaica Fashion Model, Male Face of Jamaica and Full-Figured Fashion Model at the finals, which will be held on Sunday, September 5 at the Wyndham Kingston Hotel.
Meet four of the contestants vying for the title:
Kadian Shirley

Height: 5ft 11′
Hometown: Portland
Apart from being a dedicated mother and wife, this stately young woman is a customer service representative at All-Island Gypsum Distributors. She also aspires to be a primary school teacher but her dreams of modelling have put themselves at the forefront.
She is ready to take on the fashion scene and to make her daughter, son and husband proud.
Alicia Simpson

Height: 5ft 4′
Hometown: Kingston
This well-travelled, outgoing young lady is a student at the University of Technology, where she studies business management. Since trying out for the competition, Alicia has found herself in a whirlwind of activity at Pulse, which, she says, she has thoroughly enjoyed.
The model search has been for her “a nice experience. You learn a lot and it pushes you forward.”
Alicia has her mind set on a career as a leading commercial model and views the competition as a springboard to success. Her ultimate dream is to be a Victoria’s Secret model, setting ad campaigns on fire like her idol, Adriana Lima.
Stephanie Plummer

Stephanie Plummer is a lower sixth form student at St Mary’s College. She uses her height to her advantage by playing netball for her school and improves her ability to communicate in the diverse fashion world by participating in the Spanish Club. Though she wishes to establish herself as a chartered accountant, her desires to blaze the runway and appear on magazine covers across the globe have led her to the Pulse Model Search, which she calls “a great opportunity for me to express myself [and] feel proud of myself”.
Stephanie was driven to try out for the search after seeing stunning images of Jaunel McKenzie in Vogue editorials.

This young woman epitomises beauty inside and out. Her empathetic nature has called her to the vocation of nursing. She has already begun to practise and hopes to go further in the field. However, modelling has always been a dream, one which she proactively pursued by entering the Pulse Model Search – an opportunity about which she is excited and feels special to have been afforded.
When she is not caring for others, Kadia takes the time to sing, read, surf the Internet and meet new people.
