Nicki Minaj and Eminem makes Joe Budden and Charlamagne Tha God 2017 trash list.
That’s a pretty bold statement from two of hip hop’s staunchest critics. Budden recently left his morning show at Complex, Everyday Struggle, over some internal conflicts and now its seems he is eyeing his next gig in an effort to prove that he doesn’t need the show to stay in the midst of hip hop culture. The rapper turned podcaster recently took part in Revolt’s year-end recap with Charlamagne Tha God and they had some interesting take on the best and the worst of hip hop in 2017.
One of the hot topic issue they spoke about is the so-called 2017 trash list. The full list comprises of five rappers that the two media personalities think are whack and these are Lil Yachty, Eminem, Nicki Minaj, Post Malone, and Frank Ocean. They took the time to clarify why they placed each of these artists on the list while making it clear that they don’t have anything against Nicki.
“I can’t remember the last time I saw a superstar of Nicki’s caliber put out three records at the same time, and by the way that ‘No Fraids’ record had the iHeartRadio stimulus package that you going to play every hour on the hour on every urban station throughout the country, she had Wayne and Drake on the record and that record didn’t grow bro,” Charlamagne said. “She had another record with Wayne and that didn’t go anywhere and she had a third record and I don’t even know what happened to that sh*t.”
“Nicki Minaj is a superstar and you cannot have 90 followers and put out three records and non of them catch [on],” Joe Budden said. The Breakfast Club host then explains why Lil Yachty is the poster child for trash artists of 2017.
