JAY-Z Speaks On Meek Mill Prison Sentence “It’s Unjust”

JAY-Z is supporting Meek Mill amidst his shocking 2-4 years prison sentence for probation violation calling the sentencing “unjust.”

In a rare public statement, the Roc Nation boss posted a message on his official Facebook account criticizing the judge sentencing while stating that he will always stand by Meek Mill. “The sentence handed down by the Judge — against the recommendation of the Assistant District Attorney and Probation Officer — is unjust and heavy handed. We will always stand by and support Meek Mill, both as he attempts to right this wrongful sentence and then in returning to his musical career,” Hov wrote.

A judge handed down the heavy sentencing on Monday after ruling that Meek Mill violated his probation when he got arrested twice this year. Although the charges against the Philly rapper was eventually dropped, the judge ruled that the arrest alone was a violation of his parole. Meek has been on probation for a gun and drug charge dated back to 2009. In 2015, he served three months on house arrest for violating his probation by traveling out of state without permission. In March of this year, he was arrested and charged with assault which is a misdemeanor following an altercation at the St. Louis airport. In August he found himself in police custody again for stunting in the streets of New York City.

For both charges, he struck a plea deal that leaves him with just community service and the arrest records wiped clean from his name. Meek Mill has been getting a lot of support from his fans and celebrity peers including Kevin Hart who shared a message on Instagram. The Philly rapper also reacted to news of his sentencing writing, “They say we equal I used to wanna play I like Randall and be a Eagle I used to play the quarterback my homie would go receiver that was until the football got flattened by a dope needle on the pavement.”
