DJ Akademiks couldn’t handle seeing Lil Durk getting arrested and his mugshot surfacing online.

The Chicago rapper, real name Durk Devontay Banks, was arrested in Miami on Friday by US Marshals as he attempted to leave the country via a private jet to Italy. Lil Durk is now facing charges of murder for hire in relation to the death of rapper Quando Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson, who was gunned down in Los Angeles in August 2022 during a drive-by shooting at a gas station. Police believed Rondo was the intended target, but he escaped unhurt.

DJ Akademiks is a longtime supporter of Lil Durk and was one of the first persons to break the news of the “All My Life” rapper’s arrest. AK went on his stream to share the news early Friday morning and it was evident that he was in deep distress knowing that this could potentially be the end of the rapper’s career.

“He is locked up n—-a I got the whole sh-t the mugshot oh nooo,” AK said while leaning back in his chair. The podcast host then got up and walked around his room before falling on the ground and yelling, “Nooooo!”

DJ Akademiks also shared the Broward County details of Lil Durk’s arrest records. It confirmed that US Marshals arrested the rapper on October 24, 2024. It shows his real name and mugshot as well as other details like his height and eye color.

Lil Durk’s arrest came within hours after five of his alleged OTF associates were arrested in connection to the same murder-for-hire case. The five men, who police named as Kavon London Grant, alias “Vonnie”, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, alias “DeDe”, Keith Jones, alias “Flacka”, David Brian Lindsey, alias “Browneyez”, and Asa Houston, alias “Boogie”, reportedly traveled to Los Angeles in August 2022 to hunt down and kill Quando Rondo. According to the grand jury indictment, a credit card linked to OTF label was used to purchase flights and rental cars for the men to carry out the hit job.

According to federal prosecutors, an unnamed person at OTF offered “lucrative music opportunities” to anyone who took out Quando Rondo, the man they blamed for King Von’s death. Von was shot and killed in 2020 during a fight with Quando Rondo’s crew outside a nightclub in Atlanta. Rondo’s associate Timothy “Lul Tim” Leeks was arrested and charged with Von’s killing, but the charges were dropped as part of Georgia’s stand-your-ground law.

Lil Durk is now facing decades in prison and could face the death penalty in California if he is found guilty of the crime.
