Eminem certainly knows how to market his music as much as he is a prolific rapper. The Detroit rap legend revealed his daughter Hailie Jade Mathers’ pregnancy in his new music video, “Temporary” with Skylar Grey.
Slim Shady and his longtime collaborated dropped the song in July this year and now he returned with the music video on Thursday (October 3). The “Mockingbird” rapper dedicated the entire video to his daughter Hailie with throwback videos of her and Em’s adopted daughter Alaina Marie Mathers. The music video also features clips of Hailie’s wedding, when she got married to her husband Evan McClintock in May of this year.
“Yeah, so Hailie Jade, I wrote you this song/ To help you cope with life now that I’m gone/ How should I start? Just wanna say/ Look after Alaina, Stevie, and Uncle Nate/ And, sweetie, be strong, I know I was your rock/ And I still am, saying goodbye is just not,” Eminem raps.
Towards the end of the video, Hailie handed Eminem a Detroit Lions jersey with the number 1 and Grandpa written on the back. She also gave him the ultrasound from her doctor’s visit confirming her pregnancy. Em appeared genuinely surprised when he received the news. The clip then cuts to scenes of him and Hailie doing their father-daughter dance at her wedding.
In the meantime, Eminem has been getting praised by his fans for the song and music video. “The GOAT win in life with this song I love this for him,” one fan wrote. Another fan wrote, “Sad song but beatifull video of you and Hailie from a little girl to her wedding..thank you for making so private video public. you are very good man/dad. You most live to get 100 years old.”
“Absolutely beautiful. Hailey is so blessed to have a loving father and i know she loves him too. I’m so happy to witness this special love. I know I loved the ground my father walked on,” singer Raina J commented.
Hailie Jade, 28, and Evan McClintock got engaged in March last year and tied the know in May 2024. Some of Eminem’s closest friends in the industry like 50 Cent and Jimmy Iovine were in attendance at the wedding.
