It’s barely three weeks since London-based rapper Stormzy gave us another single from his upcoming album. The new single, ‘Own It’ features Ed Sheeran and Burnaboy. He even promised to drop a full studio album by December. True to his word, we are now looking at a Friday release of ‘Heavy is the Head.’. As we await the release, the UK rapper took to Twitter to tease fans on what to expect. Michael Ebenazer Kwadjo Omari Owuo, also known as Stormzy, is an icon to UK underground rap. Known for his powerful Skengman rap freestyles, it was a matter of when before he blew up.
The London-based rapper couldn’t hide his excitement while in Studio. We can see a snippet of the producers too in the background, as he walks about. ‘That’s hard, that’s hard,’ is what Stormzy shouts before mimicking a playing beat with his voice. This album has been promoted with the initials H.I.H.T.
The albums’ cover art displays Stormzy holding onto a bulletproof vest showing the black and white Union Jack that he rocked during the Glastonbury Festival. This unique design was inspired by Banksy.
‘Own It’ is produced by Atlantic Records and #Merky and marks Ed Sheeran’s second collaboration with Stormzy. Their first collaboration was on the “Take Me Back To London” track.
HITT is the follow up to his debut album, Gang Signs & Prayer.
