Jhené Aiko is getting praised by her fans for her latest single “Triggered (Freestyle).”
The R&B songstress offloads the fierce new single on Tuesday night leaving fans with the conclusion that she is going off on her ex-boyfriend, Big Sean. Even if she didn’t release the song as a diss track, the lyrics paint a vivid picture of a Jhené Aiko who is angry and bitter about the pain inflicted by her ex-boyfriend. Neither of the two has ever publicly addressed their breakup, so we don’t know who did what to cause the split of one of our favorite couples in the culture.
“You muh****in’ right, I’m bitter / You muh****in’ right, I’m triggered,” Aiko sings in the chorus. In the third verse she sings, “Might f*** around and go crazy on cuz / Might f*** around, have to pay me in blood / This ain’t the way that you want it / Might catch a case in this b*tch /Don’t let me catch you face-to-face in this b*tch /Tryin’ my hardest not to disrespect you.”
Jhené Aiko fans have been sounding off on Twitter about the new song while praising her for the effort. “You know how when you go to church and it seems like the sermon was written just for you, in that moment the message seems tailored for whatever you’re going through?” one fan wrote. “That’s what your music does for me. This song is exactly what I feel/am going through after giving someone 8 years you said what you said so perfectly.”
