Shaggy and Sting won Best Reggae Album Grammy at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.

The duo won the trophy for their collaborative album, 44/876, which was released on April 20, 2018. The project is without a doubt, one of the leading reggae/dancehall efforts released last year and was good enough to give Shaggy his second Grammy award. The dancehall legend won his first Grammy in 1996 when his debut album “Bombastic” won Best Reggae Album. Over the years, he has received five more nominations including a nod for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocal for his classic single “It Wasn’t Me” featuring Rikrok.

In the reggae category, Shaggy beat out competitions from Etana (Reggae Forever), Black Uhuru (As the World Turns), Ziggy Marley (Rebellion Rises), and Protoje (A Matter of Time). Ziggy Marley already won eight Grammys in the category leaving him the most decorated reggae artist.

Shaggy and Sting album, 44/876, debut at number one on the Billboard Reggae Chart and went on to spend 23 non-consecutive weeks at the top of the chart with 52,000 copies sold.

Speaking with Billboard, Shaggy says he is already prepping his new solo album Wah Gwaan. “In a perfect world it would be really great for us to release the new album Wah Gwaan after that,” he said. “Leave it to the universe. Then we have a couple of singles that we’re gonna put out after the Grammys.”
