The hip hop community has been reacting on Twitter to Meek Mill’s release from prison on Tuesday afternoon.
T.I., Kevin Hart, and JAY-Z were among the first celebrities to react to his release, in fact, Kevin Hart was the first person to confirm his release. “Meek Mill is Frrrrreeeeeeeee ….I just left from seeing him in jail with @michaelgrubin and we were just told that he is being released. Woooooooow……Stand Up Philadelphia!” Hart wrote on Instagram.
T.I. shared a video of a phone call he had with Meek Mill after he was released from prison. “They made you a political prisoner to silence you… you stood tall and stayed SOLID!!! They can’t stop you now lil bro!!!! It’s almost OVER!!! #MeekOTW” TIP tweeted.
JAY-Z wrote a statement on his Facebook page. “Today, Meek Mill, a son of Philadelphia, is a free man,” he said. “He was incarcerated unjustly and caught in a probation trap for years by a broken system. Now we can celebrate his release. We thank every individual that has supported and fought alongside Meek every step of the way.”
Meek Mill attended the Philadelphia 76ers versus Miami Heats game in his hometown just moments after leaving prison. He also rang the opening bell and received loud applause for it.

I’d like to thank God, my family, and all my public advocates for their love, support and encouragement during this difficult time. While the past five months have been a nightmare, the prayers, visits, calls, letters and rallies have helped me stay positive.
